Hundreds of pages of sealed files related to billionaire “pedophile” Jeffrey Epstein were made public in early January, revealing previously unknown details about the world-famous sex trafficker, influencer and his connections to the world’s richest and most prominent politicians.
According to RollingStone, the release of these documents follows a December 2023 ruling by a judge that billionaire Jeffrey Epstein’s pedophile activities were not covered up. Of the more than 200 documents seized, only about 60 have been released so far, and these documents are part of a 2015 civil lawsuit filed by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre and against Ghislaine Maxwell (who was convicted of sex trafficking in 2022 and is currently serving a 20-year sentence).
Documents in the case show that Maxwell was Epstein’s ex-girlfriend and was involved in the sexual abuse of Giuffre. In 2017, when the settlement was reached, lawyers asked that the identities of those connected to Epstein be kept secret. Epstein faced 45 years in prison for his crimes, but the billionaire was found hanged in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019.
When Maxwell was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison, those requests were dropped. The release of court documents naming celebrities with ties to Epstein caused a hosting website called CourtListener to crash within minutes.
There have been at least seven revelations that have shocked public opinion in recent days. The first is that Epstein sexually abused Giuffre when she was 15-17 years old and asked her to live with him when she was still a minor. Giuffre has recounted quite a lot of details about the billionaire and Maxwell’s lawyer has accused Virginia Giuffre of lying at the urging of a journalist to help sell her memoir. Even when denying the allegations against herself and Epstein, Maxwell has repeatedly smeared Giuffre, calling her a “liar” and “an exaggerator, a fantasist and a completely real horrible person”…
In documents released on January 3, Maxwell’s lawyers subpoenaed journalist Sharon Churcher, who wrote about Giuffre’s story in the Daily Mail. The defense team also accused Churcher of helping Giuffre sensationalize or fabricate details of the alleged sexual abuse. Notably, the lawyers said Giuffre made up a story about former US President Bill Clinton “threatening” Vanity Fair over its coverage of Epstein. It’s no secret that Bill Clinton has been a friend of Epstein’s for years and is one of the high-profile figures named in the documents.
The second revelation is another damaging rumor about the former President. In a transcript of the testimony provided by Johanna Sjoberg – Epstein’s accuser – said that Epstein once told her that Bill Clinton “liked young girls”. For his part, the former US President has so far not been accused of any wrongdoing in documents related to this case. In a statement after Epstein’s arrest in 2019, Bill Clinton said he had not spoken to Epstein in “more than a decade” and “knew nothing about the terrible crimes” with which his former friend was accused. However, the former President admitted to flying on Epstein’s private plane four times, but denied ever visiting the billionaire’s private island…
Other notable figures named include Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz, known for his work on U.S. criminal law. Documents related to him include allegations made by an unnamed woman known only as Jane Doe #3. Jane Doe #3 said that billionaire Epstein asked her to have sex with Dershowitz multiple times when she was a minor. The documents also say that Dershowitz played a key role in negotiating a deal that granted immunity from federal prosecution in the Southern District of Florida not only to Epstein but also to “any potential co-conspirators of Epstein.”
Epstein’s butler, Juan Alessi, also testified that Dershowitz frequently visited Epstein’s Florida mansion to get massages. Another Epstein family member, Alfredo Rodriquez, said the lawyer often showed up at Epstein’s residence without his family and often played with girls. Meanwhile, in an interview with Fox News, Dershowitz said that Jane Doe #3 was mistaken for someone else and that he had never met her.
ABC News reported that most of the names appearing in the recently released court documents are related to billionaire Epstein in different ways, such as being accused of wrongdoing, having worked for him or having flown on his private plane… Some of the people who have been to billionaire Epstein’s houses include: a mansion in New York City (New York state), a mansion in Palm Beach city (Florida state), a private island in the US Virgin Islands and a farm in New Mexico state.
The Daily Mail also reported that, in addition to former President Bill Clinton, former President Donald Trump was also mentioned but no accusations were made. In addition, there were a number of other US politicians such as former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and former Democratic leader in the US Senate George Mitchell.
But perhaps the most controversial is Britain’s Prince Andrew. Documents released show that in February 2022, Prince Andrew reached a settlement with Giuffre over allegations that he sexually abused her multiple times when she was a minor. In her testimony, another girl named Johanna Sjoberg said that she and Giuffre met Prince Andrew at Epstein’s home and that Prince Andrew groped her multiple times. Jane Doe #3 also alleged that she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew as a child in three separate locations: in London (at Maxwell’s apartment), in New York, and on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands (in an orgy with several other underage girls).
Many people believe that Jane Doe #3 is Giuffre, but there is no evidence to support it. In the documentary “Prince Andrew’s Secret,” model Lisa Phillips claimed that she saw Prince Andrew at Little St. James in 2000, where billionaire Epstein allegedly forced her friend to have sex with the prince. Royal biographer Andrew Lownie said in the documentary that Epstein and Maxwell were invited to royal retreats like Balmoral and Sandringham, as well as to a “private birthday party at Windsor.”
The Guardian reported that this is the first time a US court has published documents about the allegations against Prince Andrew. The incident has sparked a major controversy in British society. Many calls for an investigation into Prince Andrew have been made, but British police have refused to do so. A British police representative also confirmed that they will not investigate based on these documents, saying that they do not contain new information. Prince Andrew is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II, but due to the sexual abuse lawsuit scandal in the US, he was forced to retreat and was stripped of his military rank and royal title in January 2022.
Another person named in the documents is Alan Dershowitz, Epstein’s former lawyer, who helped him secure a “sweetheart deal” in 2008 that avoided prosecution for sex crimes against minors. According to testimony from former employees of Epstein’s family, Dershowitz frequently visited Epstein’s Florida home and spent time “in the presence of young girls.” They also said he enjoyed getting massages there — a term Epstein often used to suggest sexually abusing young girls. In an email to Rolling Stone, Dershowitz acknowledged that he and his wife “had a massage at Epstein’s home with a professional therapist in 1990” and that he “never saw any young girls.”
Epstein’s alleged sexual abuse, described in court documents, allegedly went so far as to threaten and confiscate passports and force young girls into sex with Epstein, forcing them to have sex with him. Maxwell also instructed a group of 11 girls as young as 14 to engage in group sex with Epstein.
