Nick Knowles, the BBC DIY SOS star, was recently voted out of the series
BBC Strictly Come Dancing favourite Nick Knowles has been forced to withdraw from the show, ruling out any further appearances this season. The BBC DIY SOS presenter was eliminated earlier in the series and will now also miss the grand finale due to health issues.
Nick, who is also known for his stint on I’m A Celebrity, has been dealing with a severe arm injury which has led to him requiring not one, but two surgeries after an unfortunate incident while changing a tyre.
Fans have expressed their concern over Nick’s absence from the final, with one querying: “Will you still be able to do the end of series dance in the final. Wouldn’t seem right you not being there.”
To which Nick responded: “I’m not sure my injuries will allow.”
He elaborated on his condition, saying: “I have to wait for the knee operation until the bicep operation has healed so I can use crutches afterwards. So I don’t think recovery will be in time sadly,” reports Birmingham Live.
Nick Knowles was partnered with Luba Mushtuk on BBC’s Strictly
Nick has informed his followers that he’s facing a “reattched bicep” and a lengthy recovery involving “two or three months” of physiotherapy.
In a recent update from his Twitter account, now X, Nick shared: “Just woken up from my op. All went well by all accounts, so I have a reattached bicep now. A bit of physio over the next two or three months and all should be right as rain, back to 100% I think.”
“That’s one down and one to go on the knee,” he added, before expressing his gratitude towards his surgeon, Mr. Ahrens, and the medical staff.
Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk were voted off the show earlier this month
Nick and Luba were defeated in the dance-off by Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu.
Both pairs reprised their routines; Shayne and Nancy danced their Cha Cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub feat. Melanie Williams.
Subsequently, Nick and Luba performed their Charleston to Rain on the Roof from the film Paddington 2. However, despite narrowly returning to the competition after recovering from a shoulder and knee injury, Nick, 62, was promptly eliminated by all four judges – Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.
