No longer a rumor, after the Swifties fan community’s campaign to support the Democratic Party, Taylor Swift recently spoke out about her choice. In that situation, candidate Donald Trump had some strong comments about the female singer after the recent debate between the two candidates.
Responding on Fox News early this morning, Mr. Trump affirmed that Taylor Swift’s career will be affected by her decision to support his opponent in this year’s race for the White House .
Swift, meanwhile, broke her silence on the 2024 U.S. presidential election shortly after Tuesday night’s debate between former President Trump and Kamala Harris. The singer-songwriter, whose fan base is unprecedented, wrote to her 283 million Instagram followers that she had made her choice in the upcoming election after watching the two presidential candidates perform in Philadelphia.
“I’m not a Taylor Swift fan […] But she’s a very liberal person and seems to always support a Democrat. And she’s probably going to pay a price for that,” Trump said.
Trump also praised football player Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for liking one of his posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). This was reportedly aimed at Swift’s boyfriend, Chiefs quarterback Travis Kelce .
In her social media post, Swift also referenced a recent AI-generated deepfake in which her likeness told the world she was supporting Trump, not Harris.
“I recently learned that an AI image of ‘me’ was created to falsely support Donald Trump’s presidential campaign on his website. It really touched on my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It made me come to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my opinions on this election as a voter. And the simplest way to combat that misinformation is to be truthful,” the pop star wrote.
Swift, who had shied away from political speeches for years before deciding to speak out on the subject, made headlines in 2018 when she urged fans to register to vote.
The singer also humorously ended the post with the line: “With love and hope, Taylor Swift, the cat lady without children.” This is believed to be a reference to previous comments made by JD Vance – Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate , about women without children.
Back in 2018, Trump also dismissed Swift after she endorsed two Democrats running in Tennessee by saying: “I like Taylor’s music about 25% less now.”
Also on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning, Mr. Trump said ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis were unfair to him and that it was “3 on 1.” He also said he “most likely will not want” to debate Ms. Harris again. Meanwhile, Ms. Harris’s team continues to demand another debate, indicating confidence that she won the previous round.
