Every game is unique… Luis Diaz, who was up in one of Colombia’s poorest regions, reveals the childhood trauma that led to his incredible start at Liverpool.
Luis Diaz, a winger for Liverpool, stated that he sees every game as a chance to exact payback for the struggles that have gotten him this far in his career.
One of his fond memories as a starving man was seeing trains carrying coal through his little community in Barrancas; the majority of the coal was bound for Europe.
He could not have predicted then that a few years later, he would have to face the same challenges and light up the football globe.
When asked where he found his self-belief, Diaz replied on UEFA’s YouTube channel: “In La Guajira. It stems from my heritage. In my hometown, in my town, I have always played football.
“They are my characteristics; they have ingrained in me many of the qualities I possess now, and as a result, I have developed many more. That’s how I play.
“Every game is a challenge for me because I’m always searching for more; I know the costs involved and I have to take advantage of every moment, every minute that I have.”
“The first is crucial for the subsequent events.”
